control me, consult me

I think you might want to know

The details and the facts.

But there’s something in my blood

Denies the memories of the acts.

So just forget it, Doc.

  1. “control me, consult me” = Papa Roach, “The Addict.”

The other lines in the post are from Susan Vega’s “Blood Makes Noise.”

Two different references to blood-related themes. I suppose it either could be a veiled reference to Charlie (an addict), or perhaps to the theme of the last ARG, which involved involved a “Doc” (Thomas Mittelwerk) who was experimenting on subjects via their blood.

Or I could be wildly off base with either theory. Maybe the nanobots of the earlier “clue” are what prompts blood to make noise… Dunno…

  2. I am unfamiliar with both songs, unfortunately. But I will say that I read “control” here as a verb several times before it occurred to me what the meaning of the phrase might be if “control” was meant as a noun (as in the control of an experiment).

That in turn, reminds me of a number of things, mainly Daniel Faraday and the injections he was giving Eloise, the injections the Others were giving Claire, the “vaccine” Kelvin insisted Desmond take, etc.

I guess I might have a better idea of which direction to take if I knew what to make of the nanobots clue. Has anyone here read Greg Bear’s book “Blood Music”? If so maybe they could speak to its relevance (or not) here.

I myself haven’t read it, I’ve just heard a lot about it from my husband (who’s been recommending it to me for years). But the clues here made me think of it. As I understand it, “Blood Music” is about accelerated evolution; something about a scientist injecting himself with nanobots that become self-aware cells in his body.
