The characters Alec, Dora, The Fugitive, Haynes, Irene, and Stoever all are from Adolfo Biuy Casares' "The Invention of Morel." I assume it is a reference to the Island itself, since it is a famous and wildly visionary Sci Fi novel about the events surrounding an anonymous fugitive stranded on a desert island. Of course, the book also investigates notions of immortality, and that too may be a subject that is hinted at by this clue. P.S.
